Make Techno Black Again

YEAR2024
PROJECT TYPEEditorial, Data Visualization, Print

FEATURED IN
Interlude Artists at Play: The 26th Thacher Art + Architecture Annual in the Thatcher Gallery (2024)
A two-page printed timeline spread visualizing a data snapshot on Black erasure in techno music culture. The design uses a techno-inspired palette and editorial layout to reveal complex data in a compelling visual narrative.

THE BRIEF:
This project investigates time as an abstract concept by creating a temporal data visualization for print. Drawing from TechnoMaterialism’s analysis, the timeline conveys a culturally significant narrative through clear, legible design. The spread includes a title, narrative blurb, data citations, and a key for decoding visual elements, all tailored to a magazine-style editorial format.
